Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) should be handled annually as portable devices, almost by design, are prone to damage.
People are often surprised at how many appliances are operating within their buildings as they are the day to day things which can easily be overlooked but can also be a real electrical hazard.
In the works kitchen there will be a kettle, toaster, microwave for instance. Don't forget though that a fridge is portable.
All laptop and phone charging cables should be checked, especially as they are often left plugged in and switched on as the mains (not something we recommend by the way).
Fans, desk lights, desktop printers...the list is endless.
It is often the case now that when exhibiting at trade shows that the venue will insist that all appliances used would need to have been pat tested including any extension cables.
